Zavzpret (zavegepant) is a prescription nasal spray for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adult patients[3]. The medicine is not indicated as a preventive treatment.
Zavzpret is available as a nasal spray (10 mg of zavegepant).
How does Zavzpret (zavegepant) work?
Zavzpret (zavegepant) is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist. As such, it blocks CGRP receptors. High CGRP levels can lead to inflammation and pain. By blocking CGRP receptors, Zavzpret (zavegepant) can reduce migraine pain, light and sound sensitivity, and nausea.
