Medical Uses
Tezspire is a TSLP (Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin) blocker, human monoclonal antibody (IgG2λ), used for the add-on maintenance treatment of individuals aged 12 years and up with severe asthma. This medicinal product is not for relief of status asthmaticus or acute bronchospasm.
Recommended Dosage: The recommended dosage of Tezspire injection is 210 mg given subcutaneously once every 28 days (4 weeks). It is given in one of two possible ways: by a doctor with a pre-filled syringe or by self-administration with a pre-filled pen.
If any dose is missed, administer the missed dose as promptly as possible. Thereafter, the respective patient can resume dosing on the usual day of administration. In case the upcoming dose of Tezspire is already pending, then take it as planned.
Warning & Precautions
- Hypersensitivity reactions may occur (e.g., rash and allergic conjunctivitis) following the use of Tezspire. In case of a hypersensitivity reaction, benefits, as well as risks for patients, need to be considered to specify whether to resume or halt treatment with Tezspire.
- Tezspire is not for acute asthma symptoms or acute exacerbations. Do not use this medicine to treat status asthmaticus or acute bronchospasm. Patients must look for medical instructions in case their asthma is not controlled or worsens after starting Tezspire 210 mg injection therapy.
- Avoid discontinuing systemic or inhaled corticosteroids abruptly upon starting therapy with this medicine. Reductions in the dose of corticosteroid, if apt, must be gradual and done under the proper supervision of a doctor.
- Thymic stromal lymphopoietin may exist in the immunological response to helminth infections. Treat individuals with pre-existing helminth infections prior to starting treatment with Tezspire. If individuals got infections while on therapy with Tezspire injection and there is no reactance to anti-helminth therapy, discontinue Tezspire treatment until the infection resolves.
- The use of Tezepelumab-ekko injection in conjunction with live attenuated vaccines has not been assessed. Avoid the use of live attenuated vaccines in those receiving Tezepelumab-ekko 210 mg injection.
