Medical Uses
Ajovy (fremanezumab-vfrm) is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) antagonist used for the preventive treatment of migraine in adults.
Recommended Dosage: The recommended dosage of Ajovy is administered by subcutaneous injection into areas of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm that are not bruised, tender, red, or indurated. For more than one injection, the same body site can be considered, but not the exact location of the previous injection.
Two subcutaneous (SC) dosing options of Ajovy are available to administer the recommended dosage:
- 225 mg monthly, or
- 675 mg every three months (quarterly), which is administered as 3 consecutive subcutaneous (SC) injections of 225 mg each.
When changing dosage options, administer the very first dose of the new regimen on the next planned date of administration. If a dose is missed, administer it as quickly as possible. Thereafter, dosage can be scheduled from the date of the final dose.
Warning & Precautions
- Hypersensitivity reactions, including pruritus, rash, urticaria, and medicine hypersensitivity may occur. In case a hypersensitivity reaction occurs, consider discontinuing treatment and institute apt therapy.
- Ajovy 225 mg/1.5 mL should not be administered during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If pregnancy is suspected while taking this medicinal product, contact your health specialist right away.
- It is not specified if fremanezumab medicine passes into breast milk. If you are a nursing mother (breastfeeding mother) and are taking this medicine, it may affect your baby. Discuss with your clinician about whether you need to continue breast-feeding.
